Town left without gas in Andijan Region

Gas pipes in Poytug were cut off on 9 February
Authorities in the town of Poytug in Andijan Region have cut 14 gas pipes that allegedly hindered the flow of irrigation water.

Farmers in Poytug complained at a meeting with the town mayor that gas pipes laid in an irrigation ditch blocked it and prevented water from flowing to fields.

The mayor responded and workers of a local gas distribution network cut and plugged the pipes on 9 February, leaving several thousand families without gas – the only source of heating.

According to Wikipedia, the town’s population is 21,000 people.

Three days later neither the gas distribution network, nor authorities are trying to solve the issue of where and how these pipes should be re-laid and which organisation should perform this work.

The situation is mitigated by an unusually warm winter.
