Firm tied to Uzbek president’s daughter wants to buy Spanish football club Uznews.net – Switzerland-registered Zeromax, which is believed to be owned by the Uzbek president’s daughter Gulnara Karimova, wants to buy Spain’s Mallorca FC for about €60m.
Zeromax’s representative office in Uzbekistan neither denied nor confirmed this. The football club’s website does not report on this either.
Zeromax wants to buy the stake (91.24% of shares) owned by Binipuntiró. Spain’s media reported that the president of Barcelona FC, Joan Laporta, had floated this idea and had become an intermediary in these talks.
British businessman Paul Davidson who owns exclusive rights to Mallorca FC brands is an obstacle to this deal now. He also owns part of the Spanish island’s tourist infrastructure: shops, restaurants and hotels that also operate under Mallorca brand.
The idea of selling Mallorca to Zeromax is not accidental. Zeromax’s subsidiaries own Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor FC which managed to enter agreement with Barcelona FC on cooperation.
With substantial financial support from sponsors, Bunyodkor has managed to lure Uzbekistan’s best players and managed to win the Uzbekistan Cup last year. |
